DSIR under the Ministry of Science and Technology essentially facilitates industrial research and is engaged in promotion, development, utilization, transfer and commercialisation of industrial technology. The schemes and programmes operated by DSIR include interalia International Technology Transfer Programme (ITTP), which is aimed at promoting and catalysing exports of technologies, projects and services including technology intensive exports.
