Who can answer questions on the international trade promotion roles of the Ministries, the Government and the State?
Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce
The Department of Commerce formulates and implements India's trade policy. It also oversees commercial relations with other countries and the implementation of trade promotion measures. Its several divisions include the Economic Division, Trade Policy Division, Foreign Trade Territorial Division, Export Product Division and Export Industries Division.
Office of the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT)

The Chief Controller of Imports and Exports (CCI&E) was reorganized as the DGFT , which implements export and import policies and enforces licensing requirements. An Export Commissioner functions as the nodal point for all export promotion schemes.

Deliberative and consultative organizations

Among the various organizations that fall under this category are the Board of Trade, Coordination Committees, Export Services Coordination Committee, Inter-Ministerial Committee on Joint Ventures Abroad, and the Board of Approvals for 100% EOUs (export-oriented units).

State Trading Corporation of India, Ltd (STC)

This is involved in third-country trading (i.e. buying and selling outside India) and has a special scheme for "business associates" or exporters who are provided financialand marketing assistance to sell abroad in exchange for a minimal commission.

Minerals and Metals Trading Corporation of India, Ltd (MMTC)

This is a super star trading house providing market support to manufacturers and exporters of various products. It exports item.s such as coffee, cotton durries, dried hessian, jute products, medicines, polyester films, ready-made garments, synthetic yarns, steel bright bars, woollen carpets and precious jewellery

Projects and Equipment Corporation of India, Ltd (PEC)

PEC has identified key projects and products for increasing exports and currently handles the export and import of mechanical and electrical equipment ,textile machinery , project equipment, railway rolling stock, etc.

Tea Trading Corporation of India, Ltd (TTCI)

TTCI's primary aim is to create a stable export market for Indian tea, especially in value-added products such as packet tea, tea bags and instant tea.

Spices Trading Corporation, Ltd. (STCL)

Trading in spices and processed spices, STCL was formerly known as the Cardamom Trading Corporation. It supports projects and promotes the production and export of spice products.
